曾在美國職業籃球NBA執掌兵符25年、但畢生從未打過籃球的傳奇教練莫塔(Dick Motta)，9日獲得國家籃球教練協會(National Basketball Coaches Association)終身成就獎(Lifetime Achievement Award)。
今年83歲的莫塔在25年的NBA執教生涯中，只曾在1978年帶領華盛頓子彈隊(Washington Bullets)拿過一次冠軍。他在1968年至1997年，帶兵戰績為例行賽935勝、1,017敗；季後賽則是56勝、70敗。
莫塔在獲獎後表示，從同僚和其他教練中獲獎，是一項榮譽，他非常感謝。
莫塔在進入NBA前，曾在韋伯州立大學(Weber State University)籃球隊任教6年，然後在1968年帶領NBA芝加哥公牛(Chicago Bulls)，期間8個球季中帶領公牛6度打入季後賽。之後，莫塔先後執教華盛頓子彈、達拉斯小牛(Dallas Mavericks)、沙加緬度國王(Sacramento Kings)，最後在1997年於丹佛結束NBA教練生涯。
